The 31-year-old, who has started a personal training business, has caused a flurry of outrage on Twitter after revealing his upbringing in a YouTube video titled “The Truth About Growing Up as Hanks.”
Chet said that many people “scorned” him as a movie star kid, and in trying to navigate “shit” and “shit riders”, he lacked a “strong male role model”. who could tell him, “Hey bro, fuck these people. They’re just jealous of you.”

“There’s literally nothing you can say, Chet, that will ever make me believe that Thomas Jeffrey Hanks of Oakland, California didn’t do the absolute best job he could with you given the outcome,” someone else shared.
Hanks and his 33-year-old wife Rita Wilson, both 65, have two sons, Chet and Truman, 26. The Forrest Gump star also has son Colin, 44, and daughter Elizabeth Ann, 39, from a previous relationship.

“Tom Hanks has another son from his first marriage who is fine and well adjusted. I wonder what the problem with this is, given that the parents are still together and not divorced. Just a spoiled and titled boy,” wrote one person.
“What is Chet’s definition of a ‘strong male role model’,” asked another. “Because @tomhanks has three other kids and they all seem to be employed.”

In the video, Chet assured the public that “I love my parents” and “wouldn’t want any other parents,” but admitted that the famous family is a “double-edged sword.”
“My experience was even more challenging because, besides the fact that fame was already toxic, I wasn’t even famous,” he explained. “You know, I was just the son of someone famous, so I didn’t even do anything to earn any recognition, and that got me a lot of contempt, a lot of contempt for me.”
Chet shared that while his father was “on that pedestal,” he himself was “considered” to be “a really arrogant, titled spoiled brat, when I really wasn’t.”
During his high school and college years, he said that people would “make up their minds” about him before they knew him.
“It was extremely difficult to break down their walls, so I faced a lot of contempt, a lot of hostility, a lot of negativity, because everyone was just ready to hate me to the core,” he recalled.
Chet claimed that people gossip about him behind his back and only want to spend time with him because of his famous father.

“I felt like I had to be such a bad bastard so people wouldn’t fuck with me, and I’d rather scare other people than let people try to bully me,” he explained.
While this tactic “worked for a while,” in his twenties he was put “on a path of self-destruction.” But now, at 31, he “really has nothing else to prove.”

At the time, Chet’s lawyer Marty Singer argued that Parker’s claims were untrue.
He told The Daily Beast in a statement: “We consider the claims filed by Keanana Parker to be extortion… Her claims are completely false, fabricated and made up.”

Parker’s lawyers, D’Angelo Low and Kevin Murray, called Chet a “clear and present danger” to their client at a press conference outside the Fort Bend County Justice Center in Richmond, Texas.
“This is about violence within a relationship between a man and a woman, a man who mentally, physically and psychologically beat Keanu Parker,” Murray said.
In an affidavit obtained by People magazine, Parker accused Chet on several occasions of physical abuse as well as verbal abuse.
Parker also accused Chet of threatening to kill her during an argument at their Texas home in December 2020, alleging that he attacked her with a knife when she tried to take some of her belongings on January 8, 2021.
According to the lawsuit, she requested and received a protection order against the actor less than a week later, on January 14, 2021.
