Now it’s Amazon delivery! Jeff Bezos’ £423m Superyacht Looks Great at the Shipyard
- The Y721 yacht cost Amazon founder Jeff Bezos £423 million.
- The Behemoth is nearing completion at the Zwijndrecht shipyard in the Netherlands.
- The giant ship has three decks, a swimming pool and a helicopter carrier.
How do you move the world’s largest sailing yacht, owned by the world’s richest man? Answer: Very carefully.
Transported from the shipyard hangar on massive platforms, the Y721 is a 127m vessel said to have cost £133bn Amazon founder Jeff Bezos £423m.
The behemoth, which is nearing completion at the Zwijndrecht shipyard in the Netherlands, has three decks, a swimming pool and a helicopter carrier that Bezos’ girlfriend Lauren Sanchez, a former TV presenter-turned-pilot, is expected to use.
The vessel Y721 is taken out of the shipyard hangar on massive platforms. The 127-meter vessel is said to have cost £133 billion Amazon founder Jeff Bezos £423 million.
She has not yet installed three towering masts that will carry huge sails, which will allow the yacht to operate primarily on wind power. But even without them, the classic black hull and white superstructure rise more than 40 meters.
This means that she will not be able to leave the harbor in Rotterdam when she is launched this summer.

Everything in it is amazingly huge. Three masts laid out in a yard in Rotterdam, midget trucks, containers and other buildings.

Rotterdam’s iconic Koningshavenbrug bridge, known to locals as De Hef, could be dismantled to accommodate Jeff Bezos’ newly built superyacht, with an Amazon billionaire paying the bill.
Russell Crump, an independent yacht broker, said: “If I were Jeff Bezos, I would personally go for something more radical, but this is a big yacht, it will be beautiful and it will be predominantly driven by the wind.”
Jen Howarth, Yacht Sales and Rentals Broker at Superyachtsmonaco, said: “Mr Bezos made an excellent choice of location to build his yacht.
“Oceanco is a well-known Dutch shipbuilder with a pedigree that we all have great respect in the yachting industry.
“Yachts are considered exceptionally well built.
“It will be incredibly engineered, everything from layout to smart engineering and interior design.”
The Y721 will be equipped with an additional support boat, which is itself a 75m long giant – bigger than Google founder Sergey Brin’s £60m yacht Dragonfly.
The £400 million 417-foot Y721 will be the world’s largest sailing yacht when it is completed this year in the Netherlands, overtaking the current largest ocean-going passenger ship.
The Amazon founder’s stealthy yacht will have three “huge” masts and multiple decks. It is being built to order by construction company Oceanco and is believed to be based on a Black Pearl ship.
The secondary boat carries a helicopter carrier, which is vital since Bezos’ girlfriend Lauren Sanchez, a buxom former TV reporter, is a helicopter pilot and loves to fly.
Bezos’ net worth jumped £14bn last week as Amazon posted another record quarter, sending stock prices skyrocketing, so money to pay for luxury goods isn’t an issue.
Experts believe that its maintenance will cost about 20 million pounds per year.
There is room for 18 guests on board and a crew of 40 will be required.
