The man was detained when he allegedly dismembered the body of his girlfriend with a machete.

Nicholas Scarria, 32, was detained by police early Friday morning in Clifton Heights, five miles west of Philadelphia.

Police rushed to the scene after Scarria’s neighbor called her in the middle of the night at 4:40 a.m. after screaming her head and loud bangs coming from the walls.

The police report details how, after a huge noise between the couple, the place suddenly “became quiet” before “saw-like sounds” and “collection or moving of plastic material” could be heard.

The police statement indicated that the neighbor “woke up from loud screams in the next apartment.”

Police arrived on the scene to find that Scarria had allegedly used a machete to saw off his left leg from the body of his girlfriend, who had already been decapitated.

Scarria was found sitting on a mattress as he committed a bloody act as officers stormed in with their weapons drawn.

A roll of plastic wrap was found next to her body.

“Police witnessed a suspect attempting to decapitate an already deceased victim with a machete,” the report said.

Clifton Heights Police Chief Tim Rockenbach said the victim suffered a “serious head and neck injury.”

“I believe the intent was clearly to cover up the crime,” Chief Rockenbach told CBS3 of the plastic surgery and the attempt to dismember the rest of her body.

“I was an officer for 32 years, it’s just awful,” Rockenbach added. “I don’t even know how I could describe to you how incredibly crazy this is, especially in my city.

“I believe his intention was to cover up the crime. And we were able to get there before he could escape because of that 911 call,” Rockenbach said.

“Domestic violence is a serious crime everywhere,” Rockenbach added. “Sometimes the neighbor’s intercession allows us to solve a crime, stop a crime, or prevent a crime.”

The police detained Scarria at gunpoint.

“She tried to cut off my balls,” Scurria shouted to the police as he was handcuffed.

Scarria later told police in an interview that he and his girlfriend had a fight and then broke up, despite the couple still living together.
