The man was praised for supporting the woman during the birth of her son, despite the fact that he was only on four dates.

Pregnant Alyssa Hodges, 20, from Brisbane, was due to go on her fourth date with Max Sylvie, 25, when she went into labor last September.

She was supposed to pick up government worker Max from the airport when her water broke at eight months old and had to meet him at the hospital instead.

Alice’s contractions went on for a week, but when she gave birth to her son Ollie, Max was still by her side.

The couple claim that the unlikely circumstances of their relationship “linked” them because Max supported Alyssa during the early weeks of motherhood when she had “baby blues” and they now plan to move in together.

While their families feared at first that the relationship was moving at such an intense pace, now both parties have blessed the couple.

Alyssa said, “I was about six and a half months pregnant when I logged onto Tinder and I made it clear in my bio.

“I didn’t want to deceive anyone, so I was open and honest. I wanted them to know right away what they were getting into.

“Max travels a lot for work, so we only saw each other three times before he came to my birth.

“The day I went into labor, I had to pick up Max from the airport when he was returning from a business trip.

“That was the plan, but in the end I wrote to him: “I’m sorry, you will have to call a taxi. I’m about to give birth.”

“He got into a taxi when he got off the plane, came to the hospital and was there for me.”

Then Alice’s labor continued for a week, and Max remained by her side all this time.

“My mom was there too, supporting me. But she had a holiday, so she was here and there. Max was with me throughout all labors and births.

What are the stages of childbirth?

The latent phase is when the cervix becomes soft and thin, preparing to open for the birth of the baby. It can take many hours or even days for labor to begin, according to the NHS.

The cervix should dilate to about 4 cm, and regular contractions open the cervix slightly so that the mother is considered to be in labor.

It usually takes eight to 12 hours from the onset of established labor to full disclosure.

The cervix must open about 10 cm for the baby to pass through.

Healthline adds that prodromal labor can result in many mothers-to-be going to the hospital thinking their labor has already begun.

It may begin days, weeks or even months before the onset of active labor and is not an indication for induction.

Painful contractions usually come and go at regular intervals.

Unlike Braxton Hicks, contractions cannot be eased by drinking water, eating, or relaxing. The cervix may also slowly dilate or obliterate during prodromal labor.

“The birth lasted intermittently for about a week. I was sent home and returned to the hospital for four or five days.

“In those days I had a contract and Max was with me all the time. The birth itself lasted about seven hours.

To help Alyssa get back on her feet, Max took a leave of absence to be with her while she looked after her newborn.

Alyssa said: “After that, he took a week off when I didn’t have anyone to help me look after Ollie.

“We both knew we liked each other and had strong feelings for each other. But birth was the peak point of our relationship, it tied us together.

“Looking back, I understand that it was the best decision. I’m so glad he was there.

“Motherhood is a big adjustment for everyone, especially for me, who is younger. But Max was helped a lot by a week’s vacation.

“I had baby blues. I was very upset and didn’t know what I was doing.

“I felt lonely and Max got me through that week. Every time I couldn’t do something, Max took me in his arms. He set me up for success in motherhood.

“Even though I knew at the time that I liked him, anything could happen. I just had a relationship that I thought would last, but it didn’t.

“So I thought, ‘What if this doesn’t work?’, but it did, and it was the best solution. I don’t regret it.

Alyssa’s pregnancy didn’t bother Max, though he admits attending the birth made him “worried”.

Max said, “Something caught my attention about Alyssa. Normally, I wouldn’t hit a pregnant girl directly, but there was something about her.

“I wouldn’t say the experience was overwhelming, but I was worried. I didn’t mentally prepare like Alyssa, so I was late [like I did] was a fast paced process.

Alyssa (pictured) said her mother was “highly skeptical” about Max joining her for Ollie’s birth and advised her to think carefully.

“Anxiety was the biggest thing. There were so many unknowns, so many things I didn’t know about becoming a father.

“Being a new dad comes with a lot to learn, but Ollie and I got along pretty well.”

Alyssa says her mom was initially unsure about having Max with her during the birth and encouraged her to think about it.

Alyssa said: “My family was overwhelmed by our relationship. When I told my mom that Max was with me in the hospital, she was very hesitant.

“She was like, ‘What if you guys break up?’ She didn’t understand why anyone would want to be with a pregnant woman and take on such a big responsibility.

“She told me that I needed to think things over carefully. But at the same time, she said that Max was a great guy, and hoped that everything would work out for us.

Since sharing her story on TikTok, Alyssa has been inundated with comments from women demanding to know how she found a man like Max.

Alyssa said, “Everyone on TikTok asks if Max has a brother, calls him ‘person of the year’ and says we’re the cutest little family.” It was a great reaction.

“There are a lot of nasty stories going around these days about men leaving when a woman gets pregnant.

“Then here’s someone who comes along while you’re pregnant and is very involved in raising the baby. This is unheard of. I was very lucky.’

Ever since the couple had Ollie, the couple have been raising him together, with plans to move in together in the near future.

Alice said: “I think [being there for the birth] helped Max’s relationship with Ollie as he was able to see how he was born.

“He already plays such an important role in Ollie’s life, but having him there really helps.
