Kevin McCarthy on Thursday supported Harriet Hageman in her bid to topple traitor Republican Liz Cheney in her Wyoming county at large, the minority leader’s campaign confirmed to .

“The most successful congressional representatives focus on the needs of their constituents, and throughout her career, Harriet has championed America’s natural resources and helped the people of Wyoming move away from burdensome and burdensome government abuses,” McCarthy said in a statement regarding the endorsement.

In the 2016 election, Wyoming supported Trump 68.2 percent and voted for his re-election in 2020 with 69.9 percent, up 1.7 percent from the former president’s support.

On the other hand, Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, also enjoyed wide popularity in her previous elections.

In 2020, she won her primary with 68.6 percent of the vote, and her primary the same year with 73.5 percent of GOP voters.

The party has since turned its back on her now that she has spoken out against Trump after the 2020 election.
