Sir Michael Caine has revealed he is emotional as he prepares to sell memorabilia from his long career and personal life to downsize his sprawling £3.75m Surrey mansion.

The 88-year-old actor is looking to auction items up to £50,000 each, including movie posters, props and artwork, at London’s Bonhams auction house alongside his 75-year-old wife Shakira in March.

The emotional star admitted, “Getting away from so many precious parts of my life and career is going to be quite painful, but now is the right time to move on.”

“I hope these souvenirs bring as much enjoyment to their new owners as they do to us.”

Hoping to boost his £60 million net worth, he pledged to donate the predicted £15,000 proceeds from one portrait of himself to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

The cockney star will also be selling a poster from his 1966 romantic comedy Alfie, as well as a two-part promotional poster for his 1964 film Zulu released in the Italian market.

In addition, L. S. Lowry’s 1920 masterpiece in black chalk and pastel is expected to be purchased for £18,000.

Proving that he is a true art lover, his Marc Chagall painting Les Amoureux Dans L’Arbre is set to receive offers for as much as £50,000.

Michael will also donate his Lincoln Townley portrait, where £15,000 is expected to be raised for the NSPCC.
