The TV presenter and Jeno have both struggled with substance abuse issues and ended their turbulent three-year relationship last August.

Although Geno’s suicide attempt occurred around the time he and Jun broke up, he claimed that their breakup was not a factor.

“My suicide attempt definitely had nothing to do with June or what she did to me or anything like that,” he told TMZ.

“It has been under construction for over a year. I was just a miserable person.”

Geno explained that a friend was at his house the night he took a liter of Jägermeister pills.

Noticing the empty bottle, a friend called 911 and the paramedics managed to save Gino’s life.

He was subsequently committed to a psychiatric hospital and met with June after his release.

“When I left the psychiatric hospital, June came to the house to collect her things that she had left there,” he said.

“At the time we were talking about my suicide attempt and how I felt. She asked me, “Well, what are you going to do?”

“I said, ‘Maybe I need to go back to rehab or get some help. I’m not in the best condition.”

“So she says to me, ‘I know this place in Greenwood, South Carolina, called The Oaks. I have someone there who can contact you if you want.”

He continued, “She eventually made that connection and helped me get here to Oaks Recovery.”

Geno explained that he was working on the 12 steps and ultimately decided to cut contact with June.

“June and my relationship don’t exist now,” he said. “When I came to the Oaks, we worked the 12 steps here.

“In these twelve steps, you talk about many things that are bothering you deep inside, and I realized that some things were related to June.”

Geno told TMZ: “In my best interest and to help me with my recovery and my mental state, I stopped contacting her altogether.

“I haven’t contacted her at all since the end of September.”

Just last year, June admitted to spending nearly $1 million on drugs at the height of her cocaine addiction with Jeno.

While June found her own fame and a new body on Mama June: From Not to Hot, which featured her losing 300 pounds through weight loss surgery and going from a size 18 to a size 4, she also turned into a destructive addiction.

“I would say that the last year of our addiction is probably a good $900,000,” she said. “So much money was sent to our drug addict. One dealer had almost $80,000.”

She was arrested in 2019 for possession of cocaine and sentenced to 100 hours of community service under a plea agreement, and at one point she was on the open road with Jeno after reportedly selling her Georgia home for 100,000 dollars in cash.
