Elizabeth Debicki effortlessly became Princess Diana again when she recently filmed new scenes for the fifth season of the Netflix series The Crown.

The 31-year-old Australian actress who replaced the role of Emma Corrin effortlessly imitated the late royal by choosing a red plaid jacket with a matching skirt and hat while filming scenes set outside the Sandringham church.

It is not known exactly what the film crew was filming, but Elizabeth’s outfit is strikingly similar to the one in which Her Royal Highness attended the christening of Princess Eugenie in December 1990.

She was joined by Dominic West, who is set to play Prince Charles in the drama, for scenes, as well as child actor Timothy Sambor, 11, who stepped into the role of William’s young princes.

The fifth series of The Crown follows the history of the royal family throughout the 1990s.

Over the first three series of The Crown, the hit Netflix has become well known for twisting facts to fit its narrative, and while some artistic liberties are inevitable, some critics have been outraged by its rewriting of history and relationships.

Showing she’s the queen of glamorous cool, Elizabeth effortlessly exuded business chic while filming scenes this week.

Wearing signature Princess of Wales curls under a red letterbox hat, Elizabeth completed her look with a touch of elegant makeup, including blush and soft pink lip gloss.

Elizabeth was wearing a replica of Diana’s wedding ring. The sapphire was worn by the late royal until her divorce was finalized in 1996.

It is not known exactly which scene in Princess Diana’s life was filmed, and the Netflix series once again uses artistic license with the late royal family.

Princess Eugenie’s christening, which took place at the Royal Estate of Sandringham in 1990, was one of the few that was told to the local public at the estate.

Nine-month-old Eugenia was christened during a morning service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham just before Christmas 1990.

This was a notable exception to the usual privacy associated with royal christenings. The christening was broadcast over the public address system at the royal estate in Sandringham, Norfolk.

Microphones broadcast the service to a crowd of 2,000 outside the church.

“It was a wonderful family holiday, a truly happy day,” the Bishop of Norwich, Rev. Peter Knott, who led the 50-minute service, previously explained.

The show’s stars have been busy filming season five in recent weeks, with Elizabeth spotted on set in London last month.

A few weeks ago, Elizabeth effortlessly became Princess Diana again when she recently filmed new scenes in Croydon, London.

The Australian actress effortlessly imitated the late royal family by wearing a red puffer jacket, navy blue baseball cap, black leggings and brown boots for her scenes.

It is not known exactly what the crew was filming, but Elizabeth’s outfit resembled that of Her Royal Highness on a ski trip to Lech, Austria in 1994, when she took young Prince William and Prince Harry to an exclusive resort in the Alps.

The last two episodes of The Crown follow the royal family from the 1990s to 2003. The film crew will continue the story from where it left off in the fourth season.

The rupture of Charles and Diana’s relationship will be a central part of the new series. The fourth series of The Crown, which aired last November, told the story of an early romance between Charles and Diana.

It was announced last year that Elizabeth would take over from Emma Corrin and play Diana in the fifth and sixth series, following Diana’s death in 1997.

The actress said of her casting last year: “The spirit of Princess Diana, her words and her actions live on in the hearts of so many. I’m honored to be joining this great series that literally hooked me from the first episode.”

Meanwhile, Dodi Fayed is expected to play a big role in the next series The Crown with 39-year-old British actor Khalid Abdallah, who starred in the 2007 film The Wind Runner.

The last two episodes of “The Crown” will cover the history of the royal family throughout the 1990s and up to 2003, but it is not yet known which moments will be shown.

There are a few poignant moments that could have been exploited, including the Queen’s 40th anniversary speech in 1992, in which she called the year “an awful year”.

She was referring to the breakdown of her children’s three marriages; Divorce of Prince Andrew, Princess Anne and Prince Charles from Princess Diana.

Other notable events of the time included the fire at Windsor Castle, her golden wedding anniversary in 1997, and the death of Princess Margaret, the Queen Mother and Princess of Wales.

Imelda Staunton takes on the role of Elizabeth II from Olivia Colman, who won the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actress in 2020 and 2021.

Leslie Manville, 64, will also join The Crown in Season 5 as Princess Margaret. Meanwhile, Jonathan Pryce, 73, will take on the role of Prince Philip.

James Murray will take on the role of Prince Andrew, replacing Tom Byrne, who played the Queen’s second son in the fourth season.

Timothy was reported to play the future King William last year. According to The Sun, a source said: “The Netflix bosses wanted to make sure they had the right actors for the role, given that young royals are so well known and have so much publicity at this age.

“They took their time and found Timothy, who they hope will be warmly received. They will soon become household names in their own right.”

Like the prince he plays, Timothy is considered to be a keen soccer player, playing for the Rockslane Chiswick U11 team. He is also a talented writer who received a Grade 5 Commendation for a poem he wrote during lockdown at the 10th Chiswick Book Festival Youth Poetry Competition last year.
