A gunman wounded a Kentucky senator and killed his 32-year-old daughter in a mysterious shootout at a $6.5 million mansion.

The 32-year-old daughter of a former Kentucky senator was killed and her father was wounded in a gunfight while breaking into a family mansion in the state.

Jordan Morgan, who lived part-time in the Richmond home, died when her father was taken to the hospital, state police said.

According to the Madison County Assessor’s Office, the home is owned by former state Rep. Wesley Morgan, which was previously listed for sale by Morgan.

Morgan confirmed to the Lexington Herald Leader that his daughter Jordan was killed. He also said that both he and his wife were “shot”.

Mr Morgan was taken to the hospital after the shooting but was allowed to go home later Tuesday.

Police said several people were sleeping in the house when someone, or possibly a group of people, entered the house and opened fire. Morgan was able to return fire, police said.

The armed suspect then left the house and no other shots were fired.

The Kentucky State Police said they received a call at 4:30 am.

Detectives were still in the “very early stages, preliminary stages of the investigation,” said Kentucky State Police Officer Robert Purdy, and that the motive was not yet known.

“This is not an incident or situation that we often see in Madison County,” he told NBC News.

“I know this family and this is a tragic loss for society. As a father, I can’t imagine something like this happening. Our hearts go to them.

“Frankly, we believe that someone knows something, and we just need accurate information for further development,” he said.

The Madison County coroner’s office confirmed that Morgan was shot “more than once.”

Morgan served one term as the state representative for Richmond and Berea in Madison County.

While in office, Morgan, who owns several liquor stores in Kentucky, was charged with illegally transporting alcohol across county lines.

At the time, it was illegal without a carrier’s license.

The home has been called

The home has been called “the safest home on the market” and built to withstand an earthquake.

The judge ultimately dropped the charges after the state law was changed.

Morgan unsuccessfully challenged Senator Mitch McConnell in the state’s 2020 Republican primary.

His daughter, Jordan Morgan, was on Republican Matt Bevin’s successful 2015 campaign for governor of Kentucky and then worked with him for a year and a half as a member of his public affairs team.

In 2017, she retired from the world of politics to become an Assistant Commonwealth Prosecutor for Criminal Prosecutions in Boone County. She recently joined the Reminger Law Office in Lexington.

“Reminger wishes to express its sincere condolences to the Morgan family,” the firm said in a statement. “She was a pleasant colleague and a promising lawyer. We are shocked and saddened by the circumstances of her unfortunate death.”

Jordan last appeared in the news in 2017 after receiving inappropriate text messages from one of four House Republicans involved in a secret sexual harassment agreement with another employee.

One message shown by The Courier Journal read: “You’re about six feet tall with jet black hair and high heels and can probably find a way to convince anyone of anything if it takes strength lol.”

Last year, Morgan listed his 14,300-square-foot, six-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion for sale. The property comes complete with an underground, steel reinforced bunker.

Last year, Morgan listed his 14,300-square-foot, six-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion for sale.

It comes with a saltwater pool, steam sauna and heated floors on 200 acres of lakefront property.

However, perhaps its most unusual feature is its fully stocked 2,000-square-foot underground bunker located behind a huge steel and concrete door.

The $6.5 million listing advertised the house as being able to withstand a nuclear attack and a massive earthquake, with the bunker alone costing $3 million.

“It was built by someone who wanted the perfect fallout shelter. He wanted it to be very secure, and he wanted it to have something that no one else has,” listing agent Marilyn Hoffman of Hoffman International Properties told Realtor.com. “It’s a shelter from nuclear, biological and chemical fallout.”

Zillow described the house as “the safest home on the market in this country.”

“I just wanted to find a safe place,” Morgan said when the house went up for sale.
